Global
Applications in 2007
Our
premise is that low-dose oral interferon can be used efficaciously
in most applications where high-dose injectable interferon currently
is the approved therapy.
The
global market for high-dose injectable interferon alpha exceeds
two billion dollars (U.S.) each year.
Low-dose
oral interferon, but not high-dose injectable interferon, can
be afforded by most developing nations, and can represent growth
beyond the projections of the current high-dose injectable interferon
based market research.
The
indications for which high-dose injectable interferon is used
are primarily mulitple sclerosis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
There are several tumor types and cancers for which high-dose
injectable interferon is used. There is also an approval for
injection into genital warts. The high-dose injectable interferon
has been used to treat Kaposi's Sarcoma in AIDS patients.
Our
premise is that low-dose oral interferon can be used efficaciously
in each of these same indications, as well as others where high-dose
injectable interferon currently is the approved therapy.
The financial advantage from the diminished product costs of
low-dose oral interferon, the handling, storage and personnel
costs, combined with the much simplified logistics of administration
make low-dose oral IFN a globally viable commercial therapeutic.
Low-dose
oral interferon simply has the ability to handle an economic
void that high-dose injectable interferon will never be able
to fill.
This
is a matter of economics interfaced with the health needs of
our world. |
