Amarillo Biosciences and CytoPharm Announce Start of Enrollment for Hepatitis C Study in Taiwan PDF Print E-mail

Amarillo, Texas, June 29, 2009 — Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (ABI) (OTCBB: AMAR) and CytoPharm, Inc., today jointly announced the start of enrollment for a study of ABI’s oral interferon-alpha lozenges for chronic hepatitis C virus infection.  The aim of the trial is to reduce the virologic relapse rate for those patients who have completed the standard combination therapy, which consists of high dose injectable interferon-alpha and Ribavirin.  Although most patients respond to the standard therapy, up to 50% of those with certain “high-risk” viral genotypes relapse after treatment.

Amarillo Biosciences Announces Completion of Screening Process for Influenza Study in Australia PDF Print E-mail

Amarillo, Texas, June 19, 2009 — Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (ABI) (OTCBB: AMAR) today announced that the screening of volunteers for inclusion in a Phase 2 clinical study of the company’s oral interferon product at the University of Western Australia is now complete. The investigators met their target of screening at least 200 healthy adults for participation in the trial. A total of 215 volunteers were evaluated and 134 of them have been enrolled into the study to date. About 90% of the screened subjects have been found to qualify for the study, so additional enrollments are expected over the next 2 weeks to bring the total number of study participants up to or above the targeted 160 subjects.

Amarillo Biosciences Announces Influenza Study in Australia Well Underway with 60 Subjects Randomized to Date PDF Print E-mail

Amarillo, Texas, May 29, 2009 — Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (AMAR) (OTCBB: AMAR) today announced that 60 healthy adult volunteers out of a target of 160 have been enrolled to date in a clinical study of the company’s oral interferon product. This Phase 2 clinical trial at the University of Western Australia is being conducted by Dr. Manfred Beilharz and colleagues. The study is expected to show that lozenges containing a low dose of interferon-alpha can prevent infection or reduce the severity of infection with influenza and other common respiratory viruses when taken once a day during a typical winter cold/flu season.

Amarillo Biosciences Selects Accelovance for its Next Influenza Study PDF Print E-mail

Amarillo, Texas, May 20, 2009 — Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (AMAR) (OTCBB: AMAR) today announced that it has selected Accelovance, Inc., a clinical research organization (CRO) based in Rockville, MD, to conduct a human clinical study of the company’s oral interferon product during the upcoming 2009/2010 influenza season in the US. This new Phase 2 clinical trial will be a follow-up to the ongoing study at the University of Western Australia being conducted by Dr. Manfred Beilharz and colleagues, which is expected to show that lozenges containing a low dose of interferon-alpha can prevent infection or reduce the severity of infection with influenza and other common respiratory viruses when taken once a day during a typical winter cold/flu season. The study in Australia is well under way, with over 100 healthy adult volunteers screened to date for inclusion in the trial.
