Amarillo, Texas, April 24, 2009 — Amarillo Biosciences, Inc.(AMAR) (OTCBB: AMAR) today announced that clinical supplies were shipped to AMAR’s partner in Taiwan, CytoPharm, Inc., to be used in a study of 165 patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection.  The aim of the trial is to reduce the virologic relapse rate for those patients who have completed the standard combination therapy, which consists of high dose injectable interferon alpha and Ribavirin.  Although most patients respond to the standard therapy, up to 50% of those with certain viral genotypes relapse after treatment.  The trial is expected to start in the second quarter of 2009 and to be completed in 2010.  The patients will receive one of two different dosages of oral human interferon alpha or placebo daily for 24 weeks, followed by untreated observation for 24 weeks to check for relapse.
