Dr. Joseph M. Cummins, founder and Chief Executive Officer, has been conducting research on orally administered interferon for 30 years, has 53 publications and is the inventor on 21 issued or pending patents. He also has 23 years of experience as CEO, Chairman of the Board, and/or President of the Company. He received a PhD degree in microbiology from the University of Missouri and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Kimball A. Miller, MD, MSHA, joined AMAR as Medical Director in January 2008. He is an academic, medical clinician, health care administrator, management consultant and primary care provider with more than 20 years’ experience in clinical practices ranging from small adolescent groups to the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Miller has served in academic tenured faculty positions in several medical and business schools, as a medical director of clinical sections in large multi-specialty practices, as an administrator of a physician-hospital organization, as well as the chief medical officer of a multi-state provider sponsored HMO. Dr. Miller is Board Certified and has 52 publications He received an MD degree from University of Michigan Medical School, MSHA degree from University of Colorado Graduate School of Business Administration, and did his residency-fellowship at the University of Colorado.
Mr. Bernard H. Cohen, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Finance, joined AMAR in October 2009. Mr. Cohen brings over 30 years of management experience to the company. Previously, Mr. Cohen was Director of Finance and Data Base Manager at Harrington Regional Medical Center in Amarillo. Prior, he held various executive positions at Colbert’s department store of Amarillo holding the position of CEO, Vice President, Controller, and Personnel Director. Mr. Cohen currently is a member of the Texas Tech University Institutional Review Board, where he reviews clinical trial protocols to monitor the safety and protection of human subjects. Mr. Cohen holds a Masters of Professional Accounting degree (MPA) and a B.A. of Business Administration from West Texas A&M University.
Mr. Martin J. Cummins, Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs, joined the Company in 1991. Mr. Cummins has received extensive training in the fields of clinical trial design, monitoring and analysis, as well as regulatory affairs and compliance. He has 11 publications to reflect his work. He received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in microbiology from Texas Tech University.
Mr. Edward L. Morris, JD, Corporate Secretary and Counsel, helped found AMAR in 1984. He graduated from the Harvard Law School after earning an under graduate degree from Yale University. Mr. Morris specialized in securities law with the Houston firm of Vinson, Elkins. Returning to Amarillo in 1978, Mr. Morris is currently with the law firm of Underwood, Wilson, Berry, Stein & Johnson, PC.
